More Partnerships

Pilot Digital Internship Programme

In 2020, AIBF conducted a series of online engagement sessions with Indian university students to support youth engagement, resilience, and cross-border collaboration. These interactions highlighted the need for an ongoing digital platform to connect students in India with opportunities linked to Australia–India cooperation.

In response, AIBF implemented a pilot digital internship programme in collaboration with an Indian university. Postgraduate management students participated remotely in project-based internships aligned with the Victorian Government's India Strategy. Students gained practical exposure to international policy, market research, and strategic analysis, while the programme enabled sustained academic and professional engagement between Australia and India.

The pilot demonstrated the effectiveness of virtual internships as a scalable and inclusive model for international collaboration, skills development, and cross-border student engagement.

COVID-19 Response & Student Support (2020–2021)

During the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2021), AusInd Bridge Foundation (AIBF) delivered a range of targeted, non-commercial initiatives focused on international student welfare, mental wellbeing, migrant settlement support, and Australia–India community engagement.

International Student Welfare & Relief Support (Victoria)

AIBF coordinated food and grocery assistance for Indian and other international students in Victoria who experienced financial hardship due to job losses and reduced income during lockdowns. Support was delivered through trusted community volunteers and local networks. Assistance was confidential, need-based, and prioritised students with no income or family support in Australia.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Support

AIBF provided online group counselling sessions and one-to-one mentoring to support students' mental wellbeing during periods of isolation, uncertainty, and anxiety related to visas, study completion, and employment. These sessions supported students in both Australia and India, focusing on coping strategies, emotional resilience, and maintaining academic continuity.

Mentoring, Career Continuity & Information Webinars

AIBF conducted structured webinars and mentoring programmes addressing post-COVID education and study pathways, employability and career planning, and health, wellbeing, and resilience during disruption. Speakers included academics, industry professionals, policymakers, and community leaders from Australia, India, and Southeast Asia. These programmes ensured students continued to access reliable information, guidance, and learning opportunities during lockdowns.

Australia–India Student & Community Engagement Dialogues

Digital engagement forums maintained people-to-people links between Australia and India while international borders were closed. These dialogues focused on student experiences, cross-cultural understanding, and shared recovery challenges, helping build trust between students, Australian institutions, and community leadership.

Settlement Support for New Migrants

AIBF supported new migrants from India with settlement assistance, including guidance on education options, employment pathways, and access to local services. Trusted community networks were created to provide practical help, emotional support, and a sense of belonging during the pandemic.

Partnerships & Engagement Support (COVID Period)

During the COVID period, AIBF's programmes were supported through engagement and participation from the following parliamentary offices:

Office of MP Sujeet Kumar Rajya Sabha, Parliament of India
